Famous singer, Katy Perry, now Number 1 on The Maxim Magazine annual "Hot 100" finds cupcakes are irresistible. She exited a nightclub in August 2009 all covered with traces of cream and cupcake smeared all over her dress as well as her face too. Apparently, the famed star admitted to have joined in a “cupcake fight”. Now that’s cupcake love! In one of her tweets, Katy said: “Just got face swiped by Crumbs cupcakes. So fun tonight!” However, Katy’s fondness for cupcakes not only involves these cute treats flying in mid-air used to smash in someone’s face. She’s also a big fan of eating them. Like other famous Hollywood stars, one of Katy’s favorite is the Red Velvet cupcake from the star-studded Crumb’s Bakery. Red Velvet cupcakes are probably on the top list of favorite cupcakes among famous stars and celebrities. Rich in chocolate flavour, and deep in classy, enticing rich red color these classic cupcakes, coined ‘Red Velvets’ for their vibrant, distinctive red color that is caused by a chemical reaction between the unprocessed cocoa used and the acid in the buttermilk. Since the cupcake is in a somewhat darker shade of red, the frosting to go with it definitely calls for a lighter color or most often than not, a white vanilla or cream cheese frosting. Perhaps the rich chocolate flavor is one of the factors that made this cupcake so famous. Even Katy Perry and fiancé Russel Brand concur since they chose to celebrate their engagement by splitting a cupcake from Crumbs Bakery. Engagements, weddings, Halloween parties, princess or super hero kids parties and even business meetings. Cupcakes can be served in all of these different events and add life to the party. Cupcakes have become as hot as Katy Perry mainly because they can easily adapt to any event. The differences of each cupcake can then be expressed in the style, technique and application of the frosting. Like Katy’s engagement cupcake, a shiny layer of white fondant was placed on top to give the cupcake a smooth and shiny finish – giving off that elegant style. Of course, cupcakes can be personalized to whatever your party theme may be. For a more fun and adventurous approach, try using a pastry bag with a fine tip to give you that freedom to create various beautiful swirls. Or, if you’d like to really customize your cupcake and give it a unique design, top the icing with different fondant shapes and forms. From cartoon characters down to intricate letterings, cupcakes can be your own yummy art canvas. Discover, explore, and bake your own delicious and beautiful cupcakes.
